BIOGRAPHY

The Phasers formed on the 30th October 2011. They were originally a five-member band with lead vocalist, songwriter and guitarist Joe Dewick, vocalist and bassist Tom Allmark, guitarist Sam Hoyle, effects and keyboardist Adam Hoyle and drummer Adam Magennis.

Their first ever practice together was only in a small practice room in King Ecgbert School. there they played a cover of The Clash Song "Should I Stay Or Should I Go?". The Video Is Still Available On YouTube to see what the band were like then.

From the 19th December 2011 onward, The Phasers have been regulars for rehearsals at Yellow Arch Studios.

​

Since that point they began to debut songs which each person had wrote, "Oi!!" being the significant song that would go onto their first EP.

​

Soon after Adam Magennis left the band and Adam Hoyle took his place as drummer, the band moved forward working on new material.

​

More material started surfacing notably "He, Who Entered Here", "Usual Life", "Electric Shoes", "Confusion" and "Jetfighters" became band jam songs, but "He, Who Entered Here" would eventually make it onto the first EP.

​

After a lengthy summer period of crafting their sound, the band would focus more on the King Ecgbert School battle of the bands competition that took place on the 25th October 2012, before that time  Joe had written 2 More songs for the band "Hey Hetti" and "Back In The Capital", the former is the bands most popular track and still loved strongly by the group.

​

The band played the battle of the bands competition with a 10 minute set list, ultimately the band finished joint 3rd next to White Noise. After the battle of the bands, the band prepared for recording their debut EP "Things Burn Brighter On The Horizon".

​

On the 3rd of November the band entered Rec and Play Studios to record the EP. "Oi!!". Mixed by in-studio producer Chris Walker and aided by band adviser and TV actor and voice over artist Gerard Fletcher.

In April 2013, after much negotiation, the band played a slot at the Mix-Up Fest at Chesterfield FC's Proact Stadium. Throughout the rest of the year period, the band made sporadic appearances across Sheffield, mostly at local venues South Sea and West Street Live and capping off with an energetic crowd at The Centre Spot in Gleadless alongside the band Heavy Duck.

In 2014, After gigging various venues around Sheffield through 2014, In July, the band played for the first time at Lava Lounge at the annual Tramlines Festival and played 2 months later for the first time at the O2 Academy Sheffield. Though on the 11th October after nearly 3 years with the band, Adam Hoyle left his role as drummer to follow a solo career and record his self-made album "Fire On Marlborough Street, Under Blue Arcade". The band quickly brought in Jeremy Oliver as permanent replacement.

In 2015, the band played across more venues in Sheffield and Barnsley, playing alongside firm friends Jamie Ring and Heavy Duck at many gigs and supported The Apparitioners at Corporation in June. However, on the 5th of September 2015 Tom Allmark left the band to follow his career in the theatre. The band found a permanent replacement in Aiden Girlow. In early 2016 the band began work on their first debut album 'Now Open'. The writing process was slow to begin with but it soon picked up and in the album was released in December 2017.

The band continued building their fanbase and playing multiple gigs and writing new material.
